CTI STD-112; Pressure Preservative Treatment of Dimensional Lumbe CTI - Cooling Technology Institute This standard shall govern the treating procedure, the minimum retentions and penetrations to be obtained, and the physical condition of the lumber when pressure treating industrial water-cooling tower lumber. Treatment shall be in accordance with the American Wood Protection Association (hereinafter referred to as AWPA) Standard, with the exceptions noted below in Sections 4,5,7 and 8. Other applicable standards of the AWPA "Book of Standards" are listed in Section 10.

Where applicable, Standards published by the American Gear Manufacturers Association (hereinafter referred to as AGMA) are incorporated and made a part of this Standard by reference.
PURPOSE
The severe operating conditions encountered in cooling tower service make it desirable to establish minimum recommended design, installation, and operating practices for gear speed reducers to assure long service life.
