description abstractPURPOSE
This Instruction implements DoD policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for DoD interactions with federally-recognized tribes (hereafter referred to as "tribes") in accordance with References (a) through (d), Executive Order (E.O.) 131752 (Reference (e)), and the Presidential Memorandum on "Government-to-Government Relationship with Tribal Governments"3 (Reference (f)).
APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE
This Instruction applies to:
The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the “DoD Components”).
All DoD operations, activities, and installations that require interactions with tribes.
