UL 2995 BULLETIN

Abstract

Scope: These requirements cover electrically operated residential and commercial swimming pool lifts intended for indoor or outdoor use to be used in ordinary locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70. These requirements cover both portable and units intended to be fixed in place. These include chair, sling and wheelchair platform type lifts. This standard addresses lifts intended for persons with physical limitations requiring a lift for the safe entry into and exit from a pool. These persons have the mental and physical capabilities to operate the lift. The requirements of this standard do not address lifts in medical applications. The Standard for Safety for Electric Lifts for Swimming Pools and Spas, UL 2995 is to be used in conjunction with the sixth edition of the Standard for Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60335-1. The requirements for swimming pool lifts are contained in this Standard and UL 60335-1. Requirements of this Standard, where stated, amend the requirements of UL 60335-1. Where a particular subclause of UL 60335-1 is not mentioned in UL 2995, the UL 60335-1 subclause applies.
