Sectional Specification for Class Ia Graded-Index Multimode Optical Fibers

Abstract: This Specification applies to Class la graded-index, multimode optical fibers with glass core and cladding. These fibers are defined as having a refractive index profile which varies with radius from the center of the core and has a profile parameter, g, whose value is 3 greater than or equal to g greater than or equal to 1.
Class la fibers are used in long-haul telecommunications links with moderate bit-rates, and in short-length links for data communications and local area networks.
This Specification, Basic Specification EIA/TIA-455-A and its addenda, Generic Specification TIA/EIA-4920000-B, Blank Detail Specifications, and all Detail Specifications derived from the first four listed Specifications shall follow the specification structure used in the U.S. National Electronic Components Quality Assessment System (NECQ). For further details, see the Foreword.
