Abstract

<strong>Introduction</strong> <br>This Part is directed toward Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) Service Providers and manufacturers intending to build equipment for use in the CDPD internal network. This Part does not directly impact CDPD subscribers or Mobile End System (M-ES) manufacturers. <br>This Part assumes that the reader is familiar with CDPD in general, as presented in Part 100. Part 100 provides a comprehensive glossary of CDPD terms. References to non-CDPD documents, shown in square brackets (<em>e.g.,</em> [CCITT-X.400]), are also listed in Part 100, which provides a complete CDPD bibliography. <br>The 600 series of the CDPD System Specification defines the network support services within the CDPD Network. CDPD is a commercial public mobile data communications network, and as such, must provide additional services beyond those used by subscribers to allow successful operation of the network. This Part specifies the Message Handling Service, and the accounting functions and protocols. <br>Although the CDPD Network supports multiple protocols at the Network Layer, all CDPD Network Support Services are based on ISO/OSI protocol suites.
