Abstract

Scope: These requirements cover the application, construction, and performance of equipment utilized in mobile personal emergency response systems to facilitate the assistance for a person’s immediate need of emergency assistance utilizing the person’s location. The requirements cover the following aspects of a mobile personal emergency response system: device used by user and monitoring station equipment. These requirements also cover the means of signal initiation, transmission, notification and annunciation; level of performance; the integrity and reliability of equipment used in various types of mobile personal emergency response systems. The products covered by this standard are intended to be used in combination with other appliances and devices to form a mobile personal emergency response system. These products provide all monitoring, signal initiation, reporting, control, and indicating functions of the system. A user’s guide/installation document(s) for the product provided with the product describes the various products needed to form a mobile personal emergency response system and their intended use and installation.
