description abstractScope: This Standard specifies the measuring methods of performances of ultrasonic thickness measuring equipment and acceptance criteria using the ultrasonic pulse-echo method by a single or double crystal probe. This Standard is applicable to the case where an ultrasonic test instrument is used for the thickness measurement NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows. ISO 16831: 2012 Non-destructive testing-Ultrasonic testing-Characterization and verification of ultrasonic thickness measuring equipment (MOD) In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
