RESPONSIBILITIES FOR RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND ACQUISITION OF CHEMICAL WEAPONS AND CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL DEFENSE

Abstract: 1. This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Unified and Specified Commands, and the Defense Agencies (hereafter referred to collectively as "DoD Components"). The term "Military Service," as used herein, refers to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
2. Its provisions encompass the directing, administering, and performing of RDA on chemical weapons and chemical and biological defense (CW/CBD). The management principles expressed in DoD Directives 5000.1 and 5000.3 and DoD Instruction 5000.2 (reference (b), (c) and (d)) are to be applied to all programs addressed herein.
