description abstractThis specification establishes the requirements for the manufacture, inspection and testing of Bomb Shackle Mark 8 Mod 5 which is used to carry and release weapons within the weight limits specified for the applicable aircraft. Intended Use: The bomb shackle is Intended for use in suspending and releasing bombs, depth charges, etc., of a nominal weight between and including 100 pounds and 1500 pounds, on various types of aircraft. The bomb shackle may be actuated electrically by a bomb shackle release or by the manual release system of the airplane, and has provisions for easy individual self latching books, and safe locking when suspended or mounted, either externally, as from an airplane wing or fuselage, or internally, as within a bomb-bay.
