description abstractPURPOSE
This Directive:
Assigns responsibilities within the Department of Defense for participation in global HIV/AIDS prevention support to foreign militaries, consistent with Reference (a).
Designates the Secretary of the Navy as the DoD Executive Agent for the technical assistance, management, and administrative support of the global Defense HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAPP) with foreign militaries in accordance with Reference (b).
Establishes a Coordinating Board (CB) for DoD international HIV/AIDS activities with foreign militaries, consistent with Reference (c).
APPLICABILITY
This Directive:
Applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the “DoD Components”).
Does not apply to or authorize the purchase of antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV infected individuals.
