description abstractThe cloth to be cut into binding shall be a plain weave cotton having a minimum weight of, 3.0 ounces per square yard, and a minimum of 85 warp and 72 filling yarns per inch. The cloth shall be bleached or dyed as specified (see 4.2). The cloth selvages shall be removed and then the cloth shall be cut on an angle of 45 degrees ±5 degrees. The bias-cut bindings shall then be joined together with 10 to 14 type 301 stitches per inch using seam type SSa-1 of FED-STD-751. The edges of the binding shall be treated with sizing to prevent raveling. The finished width of the binding shall be ½ ±1/32 inch. Intended Use: The bias-cut binding is intended primarily for the binding of seams in wearing apparel.
