description abstractThis code shall apply to the design, construction, location, installation, operation, and maintenance of refrigerated and nonrefrigerated utility gas plants including LP-gas containers, piping, and associated process equipment, and controls and fire protection. Coverage begins at: (A) The point of transfer when delivery is by cargo tank vehicle or railcar. (B) The liquid inlet isolation valve located downstream of hazardous liquid pipeline under the jurisdiction of 49 CFR 195, “Transportation of Hazardous Liquids by Pipeline.” (C) Coverage shall extend to the point where LP-Gas vapor or a mixture of LP-Gas vapor and air is introduced into the utility distribution system under the jurisdiction of 49 CFR 192, “Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline: Minimum Federal Safety Standards.” Installations that have an aggregate water capacity of 4000 gal (15.14 m3) or less shall conform to NFPA 58.  Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to provide minimum fire protection, safety, and related requirements for the location, design, construction, security, operation, and maintenance of utility LP-Gas plants.
