description abstractScope: This guideline applies to the welding of fl exible, polymer lining membranes, which can be used to produce sealing systems in • Open and closed tunnels • Manhole structures • Caverns • Other structures surrounded by earth, installed loose This guideline is intended to provide the responsible authorities, clients, planners, companies performing the work, and those responsible for quality control with instructions for the performance of welding work and weld inspections on the site. It supplements the rules and agreements of the BMVBS/ BASt (ZTV-ING, TL/TP-ING) and Deutsche Bahn AG (Ril 853), as well as the recommendations of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geotechnik e. V. on sealing systems in tunnel construction (EAG-EDT). In particular, the guideline incorporates the stringent requirements these applications impose on the quality of welded joints, and therefore their execution in an expert manner appropriate to the material used in underground and earth-covered structures. The guideline provides instructions for installation, insofar as this may have an infl uence on welding engineering. Furthermore, it covers the connections between the polymer lining membranes and other polymer components.
