description abstractThis handbook covers standard symbol numbers which are used in the preparation, revision, and interpretation of ships' electrical and electronic system drawings.
This handbook covers only high usage items such as lighting fixtures, connections, boxes, switches, receptacles, and so forth. This standard does not cover all electrical or electronic equipment and is not intended as a material ordering guide. National Stock Numbers (NSN's) listed in Section 5 are for the convenience of the user and should be checked for currency and correctness before use.
This handbook applies to work on a specific ship or ships only when invoked by the Ship Specifications or similar contractual document.
Although this handbook is primarily for application to new construction, its use may be considered during overhaul, ship alteration (ShipAlt), conversion, or repair. In such cases, the degree of applicability will be specified by the activity preparing the instructions for the work.
