Abstract: This specification covers sodium bisulfate (niter cake) for use as a flux in dissolving minerals, and in pickling baths as a substitute for sulfuric acid. Intended Use: Sodium bisulfate (niter cake) covered by this specification is used as a substitute for sulfuric acid in chemical cleaning operations where storage or handling the acid would constitute an unacceptable safety hazard (used on submarines for descaling vapor compression stills).
