description abstractThe ISS, designed as a research laboratory, will utilize the near-zero acceleration environment of low-earth orbit for unique high-tech microgravity science investigations. However, due to a variety of vibroacoustic disturbances on the ISS, the acceleration environment is projected to significantly exceed the requirements of many acceleration sensitive experiments. Mitigation of the excessive acceleration environment requires the implementation of vibration isolation at either the disturbance source or the science payload. While an effort is being made to limit the induced disturbances, it is understood that the acceleration levels will not meet the environment requirement, thus requiring the use of vibration isolation at the MSG/experiment interface. The g-LIMIT system is designed to provide a more quiescent acceleration environment in the Microgravity Science Globebox (MSG) facility for microgravity science experiments.
Purpose. This document provides users of g-LIMIT with system details including structural and mechanical interfaces, resources and various requirements for the g-LIMIT system to successfully operate to its potential.
