description abstractControl banding applies to issues related to occupational health in the development, manufacturing and use of NOAA under normal or reasonably predictable conditions, including maintenance and cleaning operations but excluding incidental or accidental situations. The user of control banding methods described in this standard should also consider necessary emergency procedures to control hazards arising from incidental or accidental situations.
Control banding is considered as only one part of a comprehensive risk management process. Particular emphasis will be placed on the management of the inhalation risk posed by nanoparticles. In line with the control banding approach, greatest care should be deployed for inhalation exposure risk of nanoparticles because of their ability to suspend in air and become airborne.
Materials of biological origin are outside the scope of this part of ISO/TS 12901.
