ASSE A1264.1; Safety Requirements for Workplace Walking/Working Surfaces and Their Access; Workplace, Floor, Wall and Roof Openings; Stairs and Guardrails Systems
ASSE - ASSE/SAFE - American Society of Safety Engineers
This standard sets forth safety requirements in industrial and workplace situations for protecting persons in areas/places where danger exists of persons or objects falling through floor, roof or wall openings, or from platforms, runways, ramps, and fixed stairs, or roof edges in normal, temporary, and emergency conditions.
Excluded from this standard are: private residences; escalators; moving walks; stairs or ramps serving floating roof tanks; floor openings occupied by elevators, manlifts, dumbwaiters, conveyors, machinery, containers; the loading and unloading areas of truck, railroad, and marine docks; self-propelled motorized mobile equipment; platforms; scaffolds; and construction work areas.

ASSE A10.5; Safety Requirements for Material Hoists
ASSE - ASSE/SAFE - American Society of Safety Engineers
This standard applies to material hoists used to raise or lower materials during construction, alteration or demolition. It is not applicable to the temporary use of permanently installed personnel elevators as material hoists.
This standard shall not apply to:
1. Elevators constructed and operated in conformance with ANSI/ASME A17.1, Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators.
2. Personnel hoists constructed and operated in conformance with ANSI/ASSE A10.4, American National Standard Safety Requirements for Personnel Hoists and Employee Elevators for Construction and Demolition Operations.
3. Manlifts constructed and operated in conformance with ANSI/ASME A90.1, Safety Standard for Belt Manlifts.
4. Transport platforms and overhead winch systems are not subject to this standard.
Purpose. This standard defines safety requirements for the use and operation of material hoists used in construction.
Exceptions. In cases of practical difficulties, unnecessary hardships or new developments, exceptions to the literal requirements shall be permitted by the enforcing authority to allow the use of other devices or methods, but only when it is clearly established that equivalent protection is thereby obtained.

ASSE Z88.10; Respirator Fit testing Methods
ASSE - ASSE/SAFE - American Society of Safety Engineers
This standard provides guidance on how to conduct fit testing of tight-fitting respirators and appropriate methods to be used. Fit testing is only one element of a complete respiratory protection program. Examples of complete respiratory protection programs are defined in ANSI Z88.2, 29 CFR 1910.134 (OSHA), etc.
Purpose.
This standard provides requirements for conducting respirator fit testing and includes:
– qualifications for fit test operators
– specific fit test methods
– interpretation of fit test results
– record keeping
– methods to validate new fit test methods
The intent of fit testing is to evaluate sealing surface leakage. Other sources of leakage may contribute to the total leakage detected.
