description abstract | Purpose and Scope This test method provides a laboratory procedure to clean textile floor coverings by a technique simulating cleaning of installed floor coverings by hot water extraction, sometimes erroneously called "steam cleaning." This test method may be used to clean a carpet in a manner that duplicates the most popular (70%) means of actual on-floor cleaning of carpets. This test method prepares specimens that can be tested for many properties; e.g., colorfastness, dimensional stability, permanency of finishes, ease of cleaning, etc | |
