description abstractIntroduction
Insulation resistance (IR) problems were identified by several printed-board fabricators in late 1974. These problems were reported to the laminate manufacturers to obtain assistance in 1975. To introduce the IR problem and to seek industry participation, Richard Sarazin, Norplex, requested a seminar at the April, 1976 IPC meeting in Boston.
At this meeting, the IPC Technical Activities Executive Committee approved the formation of a task group to investigate the IR problems. A task group was formed of individuals representing the various segments of the industry. This report is the result of that effort.
