description abstractScope:
1. This publication will relate only to factors and processes which govern the development of range independent (overall valid) WDA/Z for unguided weapons. It is the aim to make the description of the factors calibre/weapon independent whenever it is appropriate. Numerical values for factors will be given in ARSP Vol.2.
2. The series of ARSPs is only concerned with weapon systems currently in use by the armed forces of member nations and not with experimental systems or weapons, which have not completed their development.
3. Publishing an air danger height for the range or each weapon will ensure aircraft safety.
4. Certain features of range design will affect the dimensions of the required WDA/Z. Protective structures (e.g. stop butts or special infrastructure like baffled ranges or indoor ranges) may be used to reduce WDA/Z dimensions to a minimum in a safe way. To go into detail on these options is not the subject of this ARSP.
