description abstract	This specification covers the requirements for the manufacture and acceptance of the JAU-73A/A Initiator, Cartridge Actuated (Initiator) used for the internal Initiator handle on the V-22 Emergency Escape Hatch Removal System (EEHRS). Intended Use: This Initiator is a component of the Emergency Egress Hatch Removal Systems installed in the MV-22, CV-22 and HV-22 variant aircraft. They are the mechanical firing mechanisms used to initiate the explosive severance component of the system from inside the aircraft after a crash on land or water. As the Emergency Egress Hatch Removal System is designed only for military V-22 Aircraft, this is no commercial application for the JAU-73A/A Initiator.
