description abstractScope of applicability of this standard in whole or in part
Applicable federal, state, authorities-having-jurisdiction, and municipality laws, statutes, regulations and building codes govern and prevail over and above the requirements of a standard. In such an instance the assessor shall record the conflict and name the statute on the data line in the checksheet. Compliance with any Grade Level of this standard, or any other standard, will not guarantee complete preparation for any Act Of G_d or warfare, including a hurricane.
Objective
To help facilities owners, small businesses and light industry develop a system to become better organized before, during and after a hurricane. This will be implemented in an assessment approach in order to assist with business continuity, reduce confusion, and minimize the potential for injury, cost for recovery, and downtime before resuming normal operations.
To support and complement US federal government preparedness initiatives including the National Incident Management System, the National Preparedness Goal, the National Response Plan, and the National Infrastructure Protection Plan.
To address the largely unsatisfied needs, before 2006, of commercial facilities for self-assessment and confirmation of their own hurricane preparedness.
