MIL-PRF-53136; GUN LAYING AND POSITIONING (GLPS)
ARMY - CE3 - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
This specification covers an automated Gun Laying and Positioning System (GLPS). Intended Use: The GLPS is intended for use in establishing a reference line from which azimuths to various points may be quickly determined in artillery fire-control. The GLPS will give firing batteries all weather autonomous positioning and directional capability by rapidly determining azimuth, deflection, and position (coordinates and altitude) of each howitzer from one centrally located orienting station.
