description abstractPerforming a white Set-up of a CRT might involve nothing more than adjusting the driving voltages of the three electron guns until the desired white point is reached. While this approach is appropriate for factory installation of CRTs into receivers, we ignore it in favor of the system analysis approach. It is based on fundamental colorimetry and produces the advantage of a formula for the Set-up conditions of any desired white point. The formula can be compactly represented as: L=AQ, where L is the relative luminance balance among the three primaries to produce the Set-up white, A is the inverse of the normalized chromaticity matrix of the three primary fields, and Q is the normalized chromaticity vector of the white point. See equation 3 in 6 below.
