description abstractThis International Standard establishes the method for determining the total ester content in biodiesel by gas chromatography and external standardization. This method allows verifying that the total concentration of the esters is greater or less than 96,6 % (m/m).
In most actual cases biodiesel is based on fatty acid methyl esters (FAME). These have also be used during the precision study for this test method. There is no indication that the method would not work on other ester types.
NOTE For the purposes of this European Standard, the term "% (m/m)" is used to represent the mass fraction, μ.
