description abstractThis specification describes a tactical automated tank gauging (TATG) system that is capable of accurately measuring the quantity of liquid petroleum in collapsible tactical fuel storage tanks, which are used throughout the United States Department of Defense (DoD) for storage of liquid petroleum products in tactical environments. The TATG should be composed of three components: measuring device, tank measurement receiver, and lightweight meter. The TATG should calculate the inventory of a collapsible tank with an accuracy rate of 1/8 inch , per American Petroleum Institute (API) ATG standards (chapter 3), and transmit via hard wire cable connection inventory data to a hand held device capable of communicating with industry standard Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software through a download port, cradle, RS232, RS485 or Local Area Network (LAN) to the DOD Fuels Manager/Fuels Automated System (FAS).Intended Use: The TATG is intended to be a tactical fuel management system for the DoD and is intended to accurately measure the quantities of liquid fuel product within each collapsible storage tank.
