Abstract

This Instruction:<br>Reissues Reference (a) as a DoD Instruction according to the guidance in Reference (b) and the authority in Reference (c). It updates DoD policies and assigns responsibilities according to Reference (d) and DoD Directive 5105.60 (Reference (e)) for the use, availability, and withholding of LIMITED DISTRIBUTION Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) distributed by, created by, or derived from NGA information and data in the possession of, or under the control of, the Department of Defense.<br>Authorizes the issuance of further guidance according to Reference (e).<br><u>APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE</u><br>This Instruction:<br>Applies to the Office of Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the &#8220;DoD Components&#8221;).<br>Does not apply to handheld or clandestine photography taken by or on behalf of human intelligence collection organizations.
