UL 1699B BULLETIN

Abstract

Scope: BACKGROUND UL proposed the First Edition of the Standard for Photovoltaic (PV) DC Arc-Fault Circuit Protection, UL 1699B, in a CSDS Work Area opened October 31, 2014. The proposed standard failed to achieve consensus and numerous comments were received. An STP meeting was held on May 19th and 20th, 2015, to review and resolve comments. As a result, the following two Task Groups were formed and immediately began work on updating the Standard to address comments. A) ARC DETECTION/UNWANTED TRIPPING/MASKING TASK GROUP - formed to address the concerns raised regarding the Arc Detection Test, Unwanted Tripping, and the Masking Test and to develop improved test methods for the series arc tripping and unwanted tripping tests. B) SCOPE EXPANSION TASK GROUP - formed to develop revisions to expand the scope of UL 1699B to cover devices up to 1500 V. A) ARC DETECTION/UNWANTED TRIPPING/MASKING TASK GROUP
