description abstractThis specification covers three grades of kerosene type aviation turbine fuel, JP-8 (NATO F-34), NATO F-35, and JP-8+100 (NATO F-37). This specification was thoroughly reviewed as a part of acquisition reform. While most of the requirements were converted to performance terms, due to the military-unique nature of the product (see 6.1) and the need for compatibility with deployed systems, it was determined that not all requirements could be converted. The issuance of this specification as "detail" is not intended to constrain technology advances in future systems.Intended Use: The fuels covered by this specification are intended for use in aircraft turbine engines. JP-8 contains military unique additives that are required by military weapon systems. This requirement is unique to military aircraft and engine designs. When authorized, JP-8 (F-34) may be used in ground - based turbine and diesel engines. NATO F-35 is intended for commercial aviation, but can be converted to JP-8 (F-34) by the addition of the appropriate additives.
