description abstractThis standard establishes safety requirements for the installation and extraction of piles during construction and demolition operations.
Application. This standard applies to employment and places of employment where employees are exposed to hazards associated with pile installation and extraction operations during construction and demolition operations. This standard applies to piles comprised of hot and cold rolled steel, concrete, wood and composite materials. This standard does not apply to structural steel erection covered by ANSI/ASSE A10.13 or jacking or pier drilling operations covered by ANSI/ASSE A10.16.
Purpose. The prevention of injuries and illnesses to persons exposed to hazards associated with pile driving and extraction operations.
