Abstract

This specification covers constant speed, continuous duty direct current (dc) and alternating current (ac) diesel engine generator sets. <br>Generator sets are of the following types, as specified (see <a>6.2</a>): <br>Type I - DC, single engine driven for surface ships. <br>Type II - AC, single engine driven for surface ships. <br>Type III - AC, twin engine driven for surface ships. <br>Type IV - AC, single engine driven for submarines. <br>Generator sets are furnished to provide one of the following service categories, as specified (see <a>6.2</a>): </span><pre> Ship service - Prime electric power required to power all essential loads and non-essential loads. Emergency service - Secondary electric power required for all essential loads in the event of loss of ship service electric power.
