| description abstract | This specification covers two types of unarmored full-tracked, diesel powered vehicles. The M730A1 vehicle is designed for cross country and amphibious operation as a guided missile carrier. The M548A1 vehicle is for cross country operation only, as cargo and ammunition support carrier (see 6.1). Vehicles are one of the following models (see 6.2). Model Army drawing Vehicle type M548A1 8750029 Carrier, Cargo Full-tracked M730A1 8750067 Carrier, Guided Missile Equipment Intended Use: Since the carriers described in 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 must perform in battlefield conditions under which commercial items would experience catastrophic failure (in temperatures between −25 and 125°F, operation on 60% grades and 30% slopes, while fording water up to 40 in., crossing 36 in. trenches, and managing vertical obstacles up to 24 in.), these items are military unique. The M548A1 is used as a cargo and ammunition support carrier. The M730A1 is used as a guided missile equipment carrier. | |
