| description abstract | This Standard applies to electric luminaires for indoor, outdoor and underground use in hazardous locations, intended for permanent installation on branch circuits of not more than 600 V between conductors and involving lamp voltages of not more than 7500 V in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Parts I and V. This Standard includes requirements for luminaires of the pendent, recessed, or surface mounting types having incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lamps. The requirements for electric luminaires for use in hazardous locations are given in five clauses as follows: Clause 3 - General Requirements for All Hazardous Location Electric Luminaires; Clause 4 — Luminaires for Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D and Gaseous Mines; Clause 5 - Lurninaires for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D; Clause 6 - Luminaires for Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F and G, and Class III; Clause 7 - Luminaires for Class II, Division 2, Groups E, F and G, and Class III. The classification for the above luminaires is given in Section 18 of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I and the term "gaseous mines" is defined in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part V. | |
