description abstractThis specification covers polarizing filters for use in optical instruments. Intended Use: Optical polarizing filters may be used singly, in an optical instrument or with the unaided eye, to reduce the intensity of light reflected from a spectral surface or due to haze. They may also be used in pairs as a light attenuator (variable-density filter) by rotating one filter with respect to the other so that the light intensity may be varied from maximum to virtual extinction.
