description abstractIntroduction
TIA/EIA-136-933 describes the fixed-coding mode of the MAC (Medium Access Control) function specified in TIA/EIA-136-332. Higher layers and other functions within the RR (Radio Resource) layer may use the MAC to transport data across a GPRS-136 (General Packet Radio Service) radio interface.
The MAC provides the following services:
• High-priority bidirectional data transport between the base station and each active mobile station. For the uplink, data transport is acknowledged. For the downlink, data transport may be acknowledged or unacknowledged.
•Low-priority bidirectional data transport between the base station and each active mobile station. For the uplink, data transport is acknowledged. For the downlink, data transport may be acknowledged or unacknowledged.
•Unidirectional broadcast data transport from the base station to multiple mobile stations.
These services are provided via two service-access points per mobile station: one for bidirectional data and one for broadcast data.
The MAC requires the services of the physical layer specified in TIA/EIA-136-331. These services are accessed via up to 9 service-access points: one service-access point for each subchannel provided by the physical layer.
This standard is descriptive, and therefore, it contains no requirements. If this standard conflicts with TIA/EIA-136-332, the latter shall govern.
