description abstractThis Standard defines a model of the characteristics of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in the continental United States of America which determine PCM modem transmission performance. It is intended to be the basis for performance testing of systems of modems consisting of a digital (4-wire connected) server modem connected to an analog (2-wire connected) client modem. The model includes specifications for the configuration and setup of suitable simulator equipment used in evaluations and comparisons of such modem systems.
