description abstractThis specification establishes the requirements for the procurement of the organic compound 2,2', 4,4', 6,6' - Hexanitrostilbene, HNS-IV, which is known as small particle HNS explosive and is characterized by high thermal stability. Intended Use: HNS explosives are intended for use in high temperature resistant explosive devices. HNS-IV is acceptable for use beyond the fuze train interrupter for explosive train design (MIL-STD-1316). HNS-IV is used in slapper detonators. When HNS-IV is ordered for any application, the contract shall specify the minimum and maximum surface area tolerance required for each application.
