description abstractThis plan describes the philosophy, system characteristics, and procedures for implementing the Data Management (DM) function in the Solidification Using a Baffle in Sealed Ampoules (SUBSA) Glovebox Investigation and Toward Understanding Pore Formation and Mobility During Controlled Directional Soldification in a Microgravity Environment Investigation (PFMI) Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG) Projects. As used in this plan, the definition of data is any and all information required to substantiate the management and technical performance, cost performance, and schedule performance of all SUBSA/PFMI elements required to deliver science hardware, software, and support equipment/spares to the intended mission manifest. SUBSA/PFMI data can be in the form of documents or other media and as such, is an integral part of all technical and administrative functions essential to the successful accomplishment of SUBSA/PFMI objectives. Through the use of DM, the SUBSA/PFMI Team will ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all data. The discipline of DM also includes the storage, retrieval, tracking, distribution, and administration of data, and is administered through the use of policies, procedures, specifications, and standards. SUBSA/PFMI DM functions are as follows:
  •  Coordinate definition of data requirements and analysis
  •  Maintenance of data requirements
  •  Coordinate change control of data requirements
  •  Data controls and transmittals
  •  Data schedules and reports
  •  Data storage and retrieval
  •  Develop catalog library and tracking database

This Data Management Plan (DMP) defines the policies, procedures, specifications, and standards that govern the processes to be used by the SUBSA/PFMI Organization Data Manager (ODM), project elements, and Center organizational elements in the implementation of the data management system.  This SUBSA/PFMI DMP defines the processes required for the SUBSA/PFMI data management system that will be used as tracking and statusing controls for the handling of in-house, Glovebox Investigator (GI), and/or contractor data. The detailed operations in this plan are in compliance with Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) procedures and processes.
