description abstract
These requirements are the basis for a verification program that will yield compliance data to demonstrate that the Delta-L experiment satisfies performance, functionality, safety, and interface requirements. These verification requirements will ensure that the Delta-L experiment has the capability to perform mission objectives both safety and efficiently for launch on the STS-118 (13A.1) and STS-119 (15A). All components of the Delta-L experiment will be stowed in stowage foam in the SPACEHAB with the exception of the Fluid Assembly that will be transported to ISS via a Single-Locker Thermal Enclosure System (STES) located in the Shuttle Middeck. Once onboard the ISS, the Delta-L experiment will be installed in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG) utilizing g-LIMIT for vibration isolation (if available) during experiment operations. In the event that g-LIMIT is unavailable, Delta-L will be operated inside the MSG with g-LIMIT by-pass cables if necessary. Delta-L requires the space of three Middeck Locker Equivalents (MDLE) of stowage volume. There are two Delta-L units used in this verification program: One flight unit and one flight/training unit. See Figure (1) for Delta-L Requirements Documentation Flow.
Verification activities include demonstration (functionality / performance), testing, inspection, and analysis, which will be conducted primarily at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).
PURPOSE
This document establishes an "end-to-end" verification program for the Delta-L project.
