| description abstract | PURPOSE. a. Manual. This Manual is composed of several volumes, each containing its own purpose. In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5134.01 (Reference (a)) and DoDD 5134.12 (Reference (b)), this Manual implements the policy in DoD Instruction (DoDI) 4160.28 (Reference (c)), assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for assessing demilitarization (DEMIL) requirements and performing physical DEMIL of DoD personal property. b. Volume. This Volume: (1) Provides procedures for assigning DEMIL codes for DoD personal property, DEMIL code challenge information, and supplementary information related to DEMIL codes. (2) Incorporates applicable portions of DoD 4160.21-M-1 (Reference (d)). APPLICABILITY. This Volume applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the DoD, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the DoD (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components"). | |
