description abstractFOREWARD
The purpose of these manuals is to aid in the planning, design, and testing of new munitions, aircraft and assist in the adaptation of existing munitions and stores to new aircraft. It is intended for use within the U.S. Department of Defense and NATO, and defense-related private industry.
The information in the manuals is the best available at the time of the latest revision. The manual consists of three volumes.
Volume I - Aircraft Manual will prove most useful in revealing possible interference between stores and the structures, pylons, bomb racks, and other related equipment of the aircraft meant to carry them. It is to be used as a preliminary tool and in no way supersedes the compatibility testing or fit-and-function check requirements specified by MIL-STD-1289, revised. It will also be useful as a ready-reference to the more detailed manufacturer's drawings when further investigation is required.
Volume II - Stores Characteristics Manual provides physical characteristics, mass properties, and reference data of stores for design, development and planning activities.
Volume III - Suspension Equipment Manual consolidates the primary physical and functional characteristics of Joint Service suspension and release equipment into one document.
