description abstract | This specification covers an item to fill a need for a self-contained laboratory primary standard for the calibration of fluid flow measuring systems, or sensors. Fluid flow measuring systems are employed at the Wright Air Development Center, for testing of development and production type aircraft engines and components, and at various Air Material Areas for production testing aircraft engines and aircraft components. These systems are used in the precise measurement of the rate of flow of fluids, of various densities and viscosities, to the test article, and under varying conditions of temperature and pressure. The calibrator provides a method of obtaining a satisfactory calibration of these flow systems and sensors. The intended use dictates a calibrator that will maintain a high degree of accuracy for extended periods; cover a wide range of flows; and be extremely easy to maintain and operate. Also, precludes compliance with United States Air Force climatic and environmental requirements. Specific flow ranges shall be covered by types. Calibrators shall be one of the following types as specified: RATED RANGE Type MB-2 5 - 1000 Type MB-3 5 - 5000 Type MB-4 30 - 10,000 Type MB-5 200 - 30,000 Type MB-6 5 -125,000 Intended Use: The calibrator is intended for the calibration of fluid flow measuring system or sensors in turbine engine and aircraft component test cells. | |
