Abstract

These requirements cover automatic ice makers designed for connection to alternating-current circuits rated not more than 600 volts. <br>These requirements apply to unitary and remote ice makers. For the purpose of this standard, an ice maker includes a means for automatically manufacturing and harvesting ice in cube, flake, or other readily usable form, with or without provision for storage or means of dispensing ice. <br>Self-contained ice makers covered by these requirements employ hermetic refrigerant motor-compressors and air- or water-cooled condensers. <br>These requirements do not apply to ice makers of the tray type, ice vending machines, or to ice makers and ice maker kits used in household refrigerators and freezers. <br>Requirements for the installation of ice makers are included in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and the Safety Code for Mechanical Refrigeration, ASHRAE 15.
