| description abstract | This standard applies only to advanced light water reactor electric generating plants and provides minimum fire protection requirements to ensure safe shutdown of the reactor, minimize the release of radioactive materials to the environment, provide safety to life of on-site personnel, limit property damage, and protect continuity of plant operation. The fire protection is based on the principle of defense-in-depth. For plants that have adopted a risk-informed, performance-based approach to fire protection, subsequent changes to the fire protection program shall be made in accordance with NFPA 806. | |
