MSFC-SPEC-3009 REV E
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION (SRS) FOR GLOVEBOX INTEGRATED MICROGRAVITY ISOLATION TECHNOLOGY (G-LIMIT)
Organization:
MSFC - NASA - MSFC - Marshall Space Flight Center
Year: 2004
Abstract: Identification
The Glovebox Integrated Microgravity Isolation Technology (g-LIMIT) Software Requirements Specification (SRS) (MSFC-SPEC-3009) specifies the software requirements for the g-LIMIT Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs).
System Overview
The objective of the g-LIMIT Characterization Experiment is to demonstrate microgravity vibration isolation technology in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG). g-LIMIT is a six degree of freedom isolation system which uses acceleration and relative position feedback control to provide a quiescent acceleration environment for payloads mounted on the g-LIMIT isolated platform. The g-LIMIT software implements the following:
• control algorithms to inertially isolate a platform in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG) to allow experiments a near vibration-free environment;
• control algorithms to generate a payload-specific pristine acceleration environment;
• data acquisition and archival for post-flight performance analysis;
• data transmission to the MSG Facility Laptop (FL) computer for real-time data display and telemetry;
• fault detection, isolation and recovery, correction and prediction;
• health and status monitoring of critical data measurements;
• command processing and status reporting;
• g-LIMIT hardware monitoring and control.
To accomplish the previously listed objectives, the g-LIMIT software does the following:
• executes on 3 Texas Instruments TMS320C31 processors and 1 SmartCore-P5 with Intel Mobile Pentium 233 MHz processor;
• runs in real-time using the ROM-DOS Version 6.22 operating system from DataLight, Inc. on the SmartCore-P5 processor and a custom operating system on the 3 Texas Instruments TMS320C31 processors;
• interfaces to MSG Facility Laptop (FL);
• interfaces to the Standard Payload Computer (SPLC);
• interfaces to the g-LIMIT hardware.
The Glovebox Integrated Microgravity Isolation Technology (g-LIMIT) Software Requirements Specification (SRS) (MSFC-SPEC-3009) specifies the software requirements for the g-LIMIT Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs).
