CORDS AND TASSELS, FLAG

Abstract: This specification covers the requirements for cords and tassels to be used with flags (see 6.1).
Cords and tassels shall be of the following classes, as specified (see 6.2):
Intended Use: The cords with tassels covered by this specification are to be used with flags as indicated: Class 1 - Old Glory red, white, and National Flag Blue (a) National colors. (b) President of the United States of America. Class 2 - Defense blue and white (a) Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff. (b) Secretary of Defense. (c) Deputy Secretary of Defense. (d) Director of Defense Research and Engineering. Class 3 - Scarlet and white (a) Assistant Secretaries of Defense. (b) Secretary of the Army. (c) Under Secretary of the Army. (d) Chief of Staff. (e) Vice Chief of Staff. (f) General of the Army. Class 4 - Old Glory blue and white. (a) Vice President of the United States of America. (b) Assistant Secretaries of the Army. (c) Coast Guard Standard. Class 5 - Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow. (a) Secretary of the Air Force. (b) Under Secretary and Assistant Secretaries of the Air Force. (c) Chief of Staff - Air Force. (d) High Commissioner of the Ryukyu Islands. Class 6 - Silver gray, black and golden yellow. (a) United States Corps of Cadets. Class 7 - Golden yellow. (a) Secretary of the Navy. (b) Under Secretary of the Navy. (c) Assistant Secretaries of the Navy. (d) NCO and Staff Officers. Class 8 - Scarlet and golden yellow. (a) Marine Corps Standard.
Cords and tassels shall be of the following classes, as specified (see 6.2):
