Abstract: This specification governs the manufacture, assembly, and preparation for delivery of the Mk 22 Mod 0 dumper valve cartridge and the methods of inspection and tests upon which product acceptance will be based. Intended Use: The Mk 22 Mod 0 Dumper Valve Cartridge is an electrically fired cartridge designed to provide the power to shear a steel disc in the runaway steam dumper valve of the aircraft catapult system. Shearing of the disc in an emergency permits the valve to open very rapidly, thereby exhausting steam from the main launching cylinders.
