description abstractDescription of Driving Event:
An in-house instrument build required a significant number of hardware purchases from outside vendors. A one-year acceleration in the development resulted in the need to procure most of these items on an accelerated schedule. While the technical team worked hard to develop the appropriate procurement strategy and schedule for these hardware procurements, some unfortunate technicalities due to their procurement inexperience resulted in delayed procurement schedules, increased cost, and in one case, the need for re-competition.
