This manual was developed by the AWWA Standards Committee on PVC Pressure Pipe and Fittings. A check of the chemical resistance of the gasket should be completed independently of that for the pipe. In extremely abrasive exposures, wear must be anticipated; however, in many conditions PVC pipe can significantly reduce maintenance costs incurred because of extreme abrasion.
